The motion

That the Parliament recognises the work of Tom Rawson, a teacher at St Mary’s School Melrose, and his successful Borders Birdbox Project; understands that Mr Rawson began this project with his young sons at the beginning of lockdown when he built around 150 birdboxes to raise £1,500 for NHS Borders, but then the project expanded, with the help of the Nineveh Charitable Trust, to provide 10 boxes to 20 Borders primary schools; notes that Mr Rawson is now aiming to provide each of the 60 Borders primary schools with 10 boxes within the next 18 months and is also looking to expand the project to the Highlands, with a view to providing 175 Highland primary schools with 10 birdboxes over the next four to five years; congratulates Mr Rawson on the success of this project, including on winning a number of awards, such as the TOTAL Better Energy Schools Award and the Scottish Lands & Estates Conservation Award, and on currently being a nominated finalist in the Youth and Education categories in the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards, and wishes the project all the best in its future endeavours.
