Bo’ness Firefighters Take on 24 Peaks in 24 Hours Challenge for Archie

That the Parliament congratulates a Bo’ness-based team of Scottish Fire and Rescue Service firefighters on planning and executing the Lake District’s 24 Peaks in 24 Hours challenge, raising £4,000 for their colleague Andi Galloway’s three-year-old son, Archie, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in March 2020, in order to give him and his family a dream holiday; recognises that Ross Maxwell, Chris Bates, Martin McCaig and David Young completed the final challenge, while their colleague, Martin Chapman, was unable to but was instrumental in the preparation and planning of it; understands that the challenge takes place across two-days and is considered to be one of the toughest trekking challenges in the UK, encompassing peaks including Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Green Gable; notes the considerable efforts of the team completing the challenge in 16.5 hours; understands that they initially set out to raise £500, theming their challenge around the song, You’ve Got a Friend in Me, from the film, Toy Story, taking Archie’s Woody the Cowboy toy along for the adventure; congratulates the firefighters on completing such a gruelling feat for a worthy cause, and wishes Archie and his family every strength.
