Glasgow Queen Street Wins World Cup of Stations
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Queen Street Station on winning the 2020 World Cup of Stations; understands that this competition is run by National Rail's Rail Delivery Group and is voted for by the general public to find Britain's favourite station, with the winner seeing off competition from 2,578 others; notes that it celebrates the role that stations and key rail worker staff play, including this year by helping to keep the country moving during these challenging times and allowing passengers to travel with confidence; recognises that this award affirms that Queen Street has played a fundamental role in supporting Glasgow and Scotland through this difficult time, evidenced by the thousands of votes received to defeat last year's champion, Huddersfield, and one of the UK's most famous stations, London King's Cross, and wishes the staff at Queen Street continued success in providing an exceptional level of service in the magnificent newly-revamped station, which has begun to come into operation this year.
