That the Parliament welcomes the national launch of the Young STEM Leader Programme, which is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by the Scottish Schools Education Research Centre (SSERC); understands that the programme has progressed from a pilot with 70 centres and approximately 500 Young Stem Leaders (YSLs) in academic year 2019-20 to a national scale with 600 trained tutor assessors and almost 350 delivering centres; notes that there are now an estimated 2,000 active YSLs across every local authority area, who are completing an award aligned to the Curriculum for Excellence Second, Third and Fourth Levels, or at SCQF Levels 4, 5 and 6; recognises that, by completing the award, they will be inspiring, leading and mentoring their peers by delivering STEM activities, events or interactions aiming to increase participation and awareness of STEM within their learning communities; notes that the week commencing 26 October 2020 is Young STEM Leader Week, which is a social media campaign to celebrate the launch of the programme in schools, community groups and youth centres across Scotland, and wishes everyone involved in the programme continued success.
