UHI Contributes £560 Million to Rural Economies
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the importance of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) to the economies of the Highlands and Islands, Moray and Perthshire; understands that a report commissioned by Biggar Economics consultancy, University of the Highlands and Islands' economic impact assessment report, has found that the UHI partnership contributes £560 million and supports 6,200 jobs in these areas; notes that, for every £1 invested in the University, the Partnership puts £4 back into the economies of the communities it serves, and praises UHI for supporting sustainable and inclusive economic wellbeing and social development for people, communities and employers across these regions.
