The motion

That the Parliament notes the launch of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s (RCS) campaign #WeAreStillHere and film in support of its scholarship fund, which supports aspiring artists who wish to study at Scotland’s national conservatoire, one of the world’s top destinations to study the performing and production arts; acknowledges that the RCS scholarship fund supports approximately one third of incoming and continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students from the UK, the EU and who are internationally based on merit and financial need; considers that the scholarships remove the financial barrier to enable young people from across Scotland and around the globe to study at the world-leading conservatoire; understands that former graduates of the RCS, such as the award-winning actor, James McAvoy, who narrates the campaign film, and the acclaimed pianist and composer, Fergus McCreadie, who provides the music for the film, are at the forefront of the campaign to ensure support for the next generation of performing and production artists to train in Scotland, and believes that the campaign captures the creativity, resilience and dedication of students, staff and alumni throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
