Bethany Christian Trust Launches Buy a Bed Campaign

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Bethany Christian Trust’s Buy a Bed campaign; acknowledges that the campaign encourages festive shoppers to buy a bed for people who are homeless this Christmas by purchasing a voucher for £21; further acknowledges that each voucher will provide a person who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets with a warm and safe place to sleep and 24-hour support; congratulates the Bethany Christian Trust on having operated a care shelter in Edinburgh every winter since 1996, and on how it has adapted to ensure that this service can be provided in a COVID-19-safe space through the new Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre; thanks local and national government for covering the cost of room hire at the Haymarket Hub Hotel, and accepts that there is still so much urgent work to be done to eradicate homelessness in Scotland and across the UK.
