Recognising the Work of Fares4Free
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work of the charity, Fares4Free; notes that it works with taxi drivers and businesses to offer free fares to assist veterans and their families in accessing essential services; understands that, in offering this service, the charity is helping to tackle social isolation among older veterans across Scotland; acknowledges that during the pandemic it has adapted its work and that, since March 11 2020, has only been carrying out essential journeys in order to keep people safe; recognises that Fares4Free has been working with partner organisations in order to provide delivery of prescriptions and essential supplies of food and hygiene materials and offer transport to essential medical appointments, and appreciates that its services have been of vital importance in mitigating social isolation among veterans in Scotland during the pandemic and beyond.
