Joanna MacDonald, Simon Pullin Award Winner

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Joanna MacDonald, who is from Haddington, on winning the 2020 Napier University Simon Pullin Award; understands that the award was established in memory of Simon, who was a senior nurse, to recognise the human side of nursing; notes that Joanna won in recognition of her abilities when she was on a nursing student placement in the emergency department at Borders General Hospital at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, where she provided compassionate care and worked to a highly professional standard, regardless of the clinical situation or workload pressures; thanks Joanna and the other nurses across Scotland for everything that they have done during the pandemic, and wishes Joanna well with her career in nursing.
