Bearsden Team Helping Key Workers and Vulnerable People

The motion

That the Parliament commends the work of David Maguire, and a team of volunteers from St Andrew’s Church in Bearsden, for their efforts to provide free meals to NHS key workers and vulnerable people; understands that David repurposed his restaurant near Gartnavel Hospital to provide over 800 meals per day to keyworkers, older people, people who are self-isolating and children who were missing free meals while schools were closed, with much help from volunteers and multiple charities; notes that David also set up a Go Fund Me campaign with a generous initial donation of £10,000 donation from his own pocket; congratulates him on being appointed an MBE for services to the community during the COVID-19 response, and thanks David, and other volunteers from across the country, for their continuous hard work.
