Scotland is Going to the Euros
The motion
That the Parliament applauds the Scotland men's football team on qualifying for its first major international tournament, the Euro 2020 Championship, since the commencement of the Parliament in 1999; acknowledges what this win means for the Tartan Army right across the world; congratulates the captain, Andy Robertson, and his team, David Marshall, Scott McTominay, Declan Gallagher, Kieran Tierney, Stephen O'Donnell, Leigh Griffiths, Ryan Jack, Callum McGregor, John McGinn, Kenny McLean, Lyndon Dykes, Oli McBurnie, Ryan Christie and Callum Paterson, on their efforts, alongside all the other players who have been part of the journey towards qualification; recognises the mental fortitude required to press on through extra time and up to the final penalty; offers its full credit to the manager, Steve Clarke, who has guided the team and his staff up to this momentous qualification; understands that the players have exemplified the team spirit needed in the midst of a pandemic; welcomes what it sees as the boost to national morale; notes that the women's team have shown the way in the international field; believes that it is onwards and upwards from here, and looks forward to the Euro 2020 Championship.
