Deacon Jim Hamilton's 20 Years of Service to the Maryhill Community

That the Parliament congratulates Jim Hamilton, who is the Deacon at Maryhill Parish Church of Scotland, on his 20 years of service to the community; notes that Jim took up his post on 20 November 2000, having previously served as a Deacon at Garthamlock & Craigend Parish Church; thanks Jim for his incredible contribution, not just to the parish, but to the wider community of Maryhill, including his organisation of many events, fêtes and galas in the area; notes in particular his coordination of the Maryhill Activity Directory since 2001, which has now reached its eight edition, of which 32,000 copies have been published and distributed, providing a comprehensive guide to the many activities and services, often volunteer-led, in and around Maryhill; acknowledges the role played by Jim in developing the People Make Maryhill awards evening, at which members of the community are recognised for the contribution they make to the area; notes that a virtual celebration to mark Jim's anniversary will be held on 19 November; looks forward to a suitable opportunity when circumstances allow for friends, family and the wider community to gather in person to thank Jim for all his service, and wishes him all the best for the future.
