H100 Fife, a World First 100% Green Hydrogen Project
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the H100 Fife project that has been developed by SGN, which, it understands, is the world’s first 100% hydrogen network, for being awarded up to £18 million from the annual Network Innovation Competition, which is run by Ofgem; understands that the hydrogen will be manufactured using offshore wind power, which is a potential zero-carbon energy source, and will be used instead of natural gas for cooking and heating in 300 households in Levenmouth to be the first of its kind trial anywhere in the world; welcomes the further investment of £6.9 million from the Scottish Government, and recognises that the delivery of this 100% renewable hydrogen into homes will start in 2022, putting Fife at the forefront on the clean energy revolution.
