Clydebank District Heating System Switched on for First Time
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the now operational high-tech heating system that it considers will make Clydebank one of the greenest areas in the country; commends the district heating network as the first large-scale water source heat pump scheme of its kind in Scotland and believes that it will transform the way that homes, businesses and public buildings in the centre of the town are heated; notes that the system works by extracting water from the River Clyde to generate heat for buildings on the site of the former John Brown Shipyard, which is now known as Queens Quay; understands that the project has just been completed on behalf of West Dunbartonshire Council; acknowledges the hard work that has gone into making this project happen, and wishes continuing success for the future of the project.
