Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland's Christmas Together Campaign
The motion
That the Parliament notes the national campaign by Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland that has been launched to support the thousands of people in communities across Scotland who might feel isolated over Christmas; notes that the Christmas Together initiative, which is being promoted with a host of celebrities, aims to tackle what it sees as the growing problem of loneliness; acknowledges that people are being asked to reach out to others who would like to hear from them and to make sure that no one feels alone in the coming weeks; understands that the number of adults reporting that they regularly experience loneliness has risen steadily in recent years, with the situation being exacerbated by the COVID-19 lockdown and families being subsequently unable to visit as normal; supports this campaign; encourages people to participate and give someone the gift of kindness, and wishes everyone involved all the very best with this excellent initiative.
