The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the 70th anniversary of the retrieval of the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey on Christmas Day 1950 by Ian Hamilton and other University of Glasgow students; recognises how this good-natured event has earned a deserved place in Scottish folklore, and believes that the Stone’s return at that time served to highlight the Scottish Covenant campaign, which had organised a petition that called for the reconvening of Scotland's Parliament that hundreds of thousands of people signed.
