The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Dr Arpan Mehta, Dr Bhuvaneish Selvaraj, Professor Siddharthan Chandran and the experts from the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research at the University of Edinburgh on their breakthrough in motor neurone disease (MND) and becoming a step closer to reversing the damage caused by MND; recognises the contribution by the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, founded by Doddie Weir OBE from the Scottish Borders, in funding this study, which is a crucial piece in the puzzle to finding an effective treatment for the degenerative condition; appreciates the hard work that the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation is doing to raise more money to fund studies into MND, such as the Doddie Aid Challenge, which has already raised more than half a million pounds in only 10 days; calls on the Scottish Government to progress the Blue Badge scheme for people with MND as a priority, and further calls for Transport Scotland to provide an update on the progress of collecting feedback on the 12-month Blue Badge test.
