Millport Town Hall Awarded £1.5 Million by the Scottish Government

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the community Group, Millport Town Hall, on being awarded £1.5 million from the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund to regenerate the much-loved and iconic Millport Town Hall, which dates from 1878; recognises that Millport Town Hall is a registered charity set up by Cumbrae community groups and committed activists to help bring the town hall back into community use; agrees that this important backing will allow them to transform the facility with a new ambitious design; thanks North Ayrshire Council for its support, with awards of £200,000 from its Community Asset Fund and £100,000 from its Community Investment Plan, together with £15,000 from North Ayrshire Ventures Trust fund, £51,217 from the Scottish Land Fund and £20,000 from the Architectural Heritage Fund, as well as donations from many generous individuals and tenacious fundraising by local volunteers over the years; is pleased that planning permission was approved in September 2020; understands that, with this funding, the town hall will be one of 26 empty buildings across Scotland brought back to life to provide space for community enterprises, and wishes everyone associated with Millport Town Hall continued success in their future endeavours.
