The motion

That the Parliament applauds the launch of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s (CHSS) No Life Half Lived campaign; notes concerns expressed by the charity that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental and physical health of people with chest, heart and stroke conditions could plunge the NHS into a long-term care crisis; further notes that CHSS runs a Hospital to Home service, which provides a programme of support that is built around people’s individual needs; understands that this service alleviates pressures on the NHS by helping people to stay well at home; notes that the service incorporates nurse-led advice, offers motivational support and builds confidence, provides help from trained volunteers within communities, carries out regular kindness calls, and has set up social community groups offering physical activity; acknowledges that CHSS' Hospital to Home service is working with some NHS boards including Fife and Forth Valley, to address needs and reduce pressures on the NHS; considers that the charity needs that particular support to be available for everyone who needs it across the country, and commends CHSS on its tireless commitment to work with all parties, stakeholders and health boards to ensure that its Hospital to Home service will be there for everyone in need.
