Behind the Mask
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Dumfries-based William Gillon-Maxwell on creating the Behind the Mask platform, which seeks to promote and support positive health and wellbeing, both during and after the current COVID-19 lockdown restrictions; understands that, in December 2020, William set up Behind the Mask following his own challenges with mental health, with the aim of allowing people space to access support resources, coping techniques and strategies to positively address the challenges caused by poor mental health, which have been exacerbated by COVID-19 and lockdown restrictions; notes that Behind the Mask offers blog space, inspirational and positive quotes, tips on healthy eating and diet, which can contribute to positive wellbeing, as well as products such as positivity cards, wellbeing boxes and relaxation tools; further notes that it is William’s aim, once COVID-19 restrictions allow, to create a safe space that allows people to chat, socialise, discuss and share their mental health journey, and to organise social events such as runs, cycles and other activities to promote positive mental health and wellbeing and to raise funds for mental health charities; thanks William for his efforts to support and promote mental health and wellbeing; wishes him every success for the future, and encourages everyone to read more about Behind the Mask at behindmask.co.uk.
