Importance of the Human Rights Act
The motion
That the Parliament notes the UK Government’s Independent Human Rights Act Review; further notes the importance of the Human Rights Act 1998 as a means of enabling people to access their rights under the European Convention of Human Rights; acknowledges what it sees as the positive impact of the Act on people’s lives; notes what it considers the Act’s role in developing a stronger human rights culture in the Cunninghame South constituency and right across Scotland, and reasserts its commitment to the Human Rights Act, the European Convention on Human Rights and to respecting, protecting and fulfilling the human rights of everyone in Scotland.
