Selection of Rory Sutherland and Stuart Hogg for the British and Irish Lions Tour

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Rory Sutherland and Stuart Hogg on their selection for the 2021 British and Irish Lions tour; notes that both used to play for Hawick and are among eight Scottish players selected for the Lions, along with their fellow Borderer, and Gala star, Gregor Townsend who has been recruited by the head coach, Warren Gatland, as part of his coaching team; appreciates that this is the second Lions tour in a row to feature two Borderers as, in 2017, Stuart Hogg was selected alongside the Jed-Forest player, Greg Laidlaw; commends the eight-strong Scottish contingent, which is the biggest for over three years; commends them for all their hard work and dedication to the sport over the years, and wishes all the Lions' players well on their tour.
