Lodged by Alexander Burnett (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Standard Motion 34 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month, which aims to raise awareness of the disease and the long-term effects it can have on someone’s health; acknowledges that cases of Lyme disease have been reported across Scotland, but that diagnosis and treatment of the disease can be difficult and complex; understands that there is still much progress to be made in spreading public health information on how to prevent and treat Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses; recognises the hard work of local organisations such as Tick-borne Illness Campaign Scotland, which is dedicated to improving testing, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease, such as through petition PE01662, and builds on the work undertaken in Session 5 of the Scottish Parliament to address these issues.
