Ofgem's £48 Million Low Carbon Investment for Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement from Ofgem of more than £48 million of investment in 24 low carbon projects in Scotland; understands that these projects cover a range of low carbon infrastructure, including electric transport and heat and efforts to boost a green economic recovery; further welcomes the inclusion of a project to reinforce the primary substation at Constable Street in Dundee, which will open up capacity for additional demand, including the electrification of bus services and the de-carbonisation of Police Scotland’s car fleet, and notes that these projects will begin in 2021 and form part of a wider £300.5 million investment across Britain over the next two years to prepare for the increased use of electric transport and heat, which, in turn, is part of a wider £40 billion drive to help ensure that the UK can meet its net zero targets.
