The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the annual event, The Big Lunch, which will run from 5 June 2021 and is organised by the lottery-funded Eden Project Communities (EPC); recognise that EPC works to help connect people to build healthier happier communities where people know each other and neighbourhoods thrive; notes that it has teams working in communities across the UK that aim to support people who want to make a difference to the areas where they live; believes that the COVID-19 lockdowns have, in many ways, demonstrated how important community is, with many people rallying to support their neighbours and community by providing emotional and practical support, and notes that these people have been supported by their communities in turn; understands that, as the country moves out of lockdown, EPC has a mission to help keep that community spirit alive; recognises that The Big Lunch aims to bring people together over food to get to know their neighbours better; acknowledges that this is a fun and easy way to meet new people and build community connections; recognises that the event is part of  EPC's Month of Community in June, which is celebrating everything that EPC sees as "making our communities brilliant", and congratulates everyone involved with this excellent work in bringing communities together with the aim of improving everyone’s mental health and wellbeing.
