Bridge of Allan Gardens Open for Charity
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Bridge of Allan residents are opening up their gardens to the public in order to raise money for charity on 6 June 2021; understands that the town’s allotments on Cornton Road, along with nine private gardens, will be on display; believes that money raised through the long-running annual Scotland’s Gardens initiative will go to Strathcarron Hospice, the town’s St Saviour’s Episcopal Church and other gardens scheme beneficiaries; believes that the event is expected to draw a considerable crowd as interest in gardening, particularly with people growing their own food, has surged during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns; notes that the intention is also to promote the charity, Froglife, which aims to encourage life in ponds, along with the regular plant stall in St Saviours church garden on Keir St; further notes that further details are available on the Scotland’s Gardens website, scotlandsgardens.org; commends the organisers and the gardens’ owners for getting involved in this excellent initiative, and wishes everyone involved all the very best for a successful afternoon.
