Armed Forces Day 2021

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Armed Forces Day, which takes place on the last Saturday in June and, for 2021, will take place on 26 June; acknowledges that Armed Forces Day is a chance for people to show their support for the men and women of the UK's Armed Forces, whether they are currently serving troops, service families, veterans or cadets; considers that there are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved; understands that Armed Forces Day celebrations will begin on 21 June 2021, when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country, with Reserves Day taking place on the following Wednesday and additionally providing an opportunity for the country to recognise the reserve forces; recognises that physical and virtual events are being held right across the country to mark this year’s Armed Forces Day, subject to their adherence to COVID-19 regulations; commends Her Majesty’s Armed Forces in their defence of the UK and its interests, and further acknowledges that the armed forces are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism.
