Connect Alloa Receives National Lottery Funding
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that an Alloa youth charity is set to expand on its activities, and to reach more young people, thanks to a funding award for the next two years; understands that Connect Alloa has received just over £66,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund; notes that this will unlock the potential to open up opportunities for people to join and help the organisation to grow; considers that the money will help fund a full-time project leader in the charity's founder, Dave Crozier, a part-time digital engagement worker and a part-time youth worker; further notes that applications for the latter post are open, and understands that Dave is thrilled to be able to offer the 10 hour-a-week post for the next year and a half; acknowledges that the funding will also pay for office rent and utilities for the good cause, along with training, activities and refreshments at youth sessions; further acknowledges that Connect Alloa has returned to face-to-face youth sessions, while retaining a portion of its digital offering and that it is slowly gaining traction again, with a trickle of new people coming in, and commends Dave and all his volunteers, colleagues and service users for all their fantastic work in the community.
