21st Anniversary of John Muir Trust Taking Custodianship of Ben Nevis
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 21 June marks the 21st anniversary of the John Muir Trust taking custodianship of Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis on behalf of the Scottish people; recognises the iconic status of Ben Nevis as a symbol of Scotland’s identity, and as an internationally renowned mountain that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Highlands every year; values the vital work and financial investment carried out over the years by the John Muir Trust and the Nevis Landscape Partnership, which has included maintaining footpaths and access routes, supporting local jobs, restoring biodiversity and providing training opportunities for young people locally, and congratulates the John Muir Trust on 21 years of exemplary stewardship of Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis.
