The Net Zero Technology Centre
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) rebranding as the Net Zero Technology Centre; acknowledges the support for the oil and gas industry provided by the centre to develop and deploy technology to accelerate the transition to an affordable net zero North Sea; notes that the Net Zero Technology Centre has co-invested £176 million alongside industry, screened more than 1,300 technologies and generated an estimated £10 to £15 billion in gross value added; believes that partnership with industry, local and national government, and academia to address major energy challenges is the best way forward to meeting net zero ambitions; recognises the large number of jobs across Scotland and the North East that are supported by the oil and gas sector, and believes that government should work with industry in order to deliver the transition away from fossil fuels.
