Duncan Scott Graduates from the University of Stirling
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates British Olympian Duncan Scott on his graduation from the University of Stirling; understands that the swimming athlete, who will leave for Japan next week as part of Team GB, received a 2:1 in Business and Sports Studies after successfully combining his degree with his record-breaking career in the pool; acknowledges that Duncan who grew up in Alloa, broke two British freestyle records whilst qualifying for the Tokyo Games, has been part of Stirling’s Sports Scholarship Programme for the last six years, giving him the flexibility to balance his degree with training; notes that the sports champion acknowledges personally that despite his successes in the pool, completing his degree is amongst his top achievements saying that one of the things he is most proud of is achieving a 2:1 despite not really enjoying school as a result of his dyslexia and having to balance it with swimming but he eventually ended up enjoying university; views Duncan as a shining example to all young people; commends him on his focus, discipline and success, and wishes Duncan and all Team GB the very best of success in Tokyo.
