Duncan Scott's Record-breaking Olympic Success
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the achievements of Duncan Scott, who it understands became Team GB’s most successful Olympian in a single games by winning a silver medal on 1 August 2021 in the 4x100m medley at the Tokyo Olympics, bringing his medal total to four, with three silver medals and one gold; further understands that Duncan was taught to swim in Troon, where he took a two-week intensive training course one summer, after which the teacher, recognising his potential, asked him to join the local swimming club and that he went on to compete in galas and competitions; notes that he also shattered his personal best in the men's 200m individual medley by finishing in 1:55:28 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, and wishes Duncan continued success throughout his career.
