Castle Douglas Hosts UK Elite Cyclists Over Four-Day Event

The motion

That the Parliament wishes the town of Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway every success in hosting some of Britain’s best cyclists during the 2021 Tour Series; understands that Castle Douglas will host the final round of the 2021 Tour Series on 12 August 2021, which will follow previous rounds of the competition to be staged in Guisborough and Sunderland; acknowledges the importance of such a prestigious event in attracting visitors to the area; praises organisers for seizing the initiative to turn the occasion into a four-day food festival giving local producers, chefs, cooks, bakers, mixologists, brewers and chocolatiers the chance to promote their skills and allow residents and tourists to experience wholesome, locally-produced food and drink, and wishes the local community and those taking part every success in staging such a spectacular show for the first time.
