Friends of Bridge of Allan Nominated for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that a group of Bridge of Allan volunteers have been nominated for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service; understands that the community group Friends of Bridge of Allan backed by two town residents has been nominated for the award, which was set up in 2002, the year of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee, for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers; acknowledges that, since 2008, Friends of Bridge of Allan have been putting up hanging baskets, tubs and planters and tidying untended and overgrown areas around the town; notes that the group's previous projects have included the installation of picnic benches and seats at Blairforkie Drive and at Mine Woods in addition to memorial benches and trees that have been installed at the town’s Memorial Park, commends Friends of Bridge of Allan for carrying out sterling and tireless work for the benefit of the town, its residents and visitors, and wishes everyone involved it very best of luck with the awards process.
