The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which runs throughout October; understands that on 22 October, people will Wear it Pink to raise money for lifesaving research and life-changing care; understands that Wear It Pink Day is Breast Cancer Now’s flagship fundraising event; notes that Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual campaign that involves thousands of organisations, aiming to shine a light on the importance of breast cancer awareness, education and research; understands that since March 2020, the doors to hundreds of community support events have had to close and researchers have been kept out of labs due to COVID-19; acknowledges that during this difficult period, people have been diagnosed with the disease at a time when everything from treatment to screenings have been disrupted by the pandemic; understands that, if found early enough, breast cancer is treatable; acknowledges that people are five times more likely to survive breast cancer if it is caught in its earliest stage, and congratulates all those raising funds across Scotland for breast cancer during the month of October.
