25th Anniversary of Woodland Trust Caring for Glen Finglas
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Woodland Trust Scotland on the 25th anniversary of taking into its care the property of Glen Finglas, in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, in the Stirling constituency; notes that around 2,000 hectares of new native woodland were created through planting and natural regeneration, with plans to create more in order to link existing habitats; further notes that, in 2020, 100 hectares of peatland was restored, with plans to restore a further 134 hectares; appreciates that there are around 40,000 annual visits to Glen Finglas, where people enjoy nature, and applauds the tremendous progress that has been made with restoring, protecting and planting the landscape, including working with partners and neighbours, for over a quarter of a century, which will leave the landscape in a better state for future generations to enjoy.
