Official Opening of Aberdeen Art Gallery

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the official opening of Aberdeen Art Gallery on 21 September 2021 by The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay; notes that Their Royal Highnesses toured the building and viewed the Balmoral Phenomenon Gallery, which features pieces donated by Frances Farquharson, a former editor of Harper’s Bazaar; further notes that The Duchess met pupils from Hanover Street Primary School, who have recently participated in the Art Chat project, in which they looked at selected art together with curators and members of the learning team, explored the stories and inspiration behind them and recorded their responses, which will be available for visitors to listen to on the Art Gallery’s +Music audio system; recognises that the Art Gallery has received numerous awards, most notably the prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year; welcomes the opportunities to experience and engage with art that its reopening will bring to the people of Aberdeen, and thanks to those who contributed to the reopening.
