The Diane Mitchell Music School Named Music School of the Year at Scotland Prestige Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates The Diane Mitchell Music School on being named Music School of the Year at the Scotland Prestige Awards ,which recognise small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their market over the last 12 months; understands that the judges praised the school’s inclusive ethos and for forming a community interest company to reach out to people who cannot afford music lessons and classes; notes that one-to-one tuition is available at the school’s studios in Brick Lane, Paisley, for people of all ages to learn how to play up to 12 instruments, including piano, guitar, violin, percussion and wind; appreciates that classes for children follow the Kodaly approach by teaching the basic concepts of beat, rhythm and pitch through singing games to develop musicality at as early an age as possible, and wishes the school continued success, following the challenges experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
