The motion

That the Parliament commends Lorna Stanger from Thurso, who is preparing to set off on a 130-mile run from Dunbar Hospital in the town to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness; understands that Lorna is undertaking this challenge to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by people from the far north of Scotland who have to make what can be a long journey to Inverness for a variety of medical reasons, such as to give birth, attend mental health appointments and have pre-operation assessments; notes that Lorna is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Caithness Health Action Team and notes that the distance that she will run is the equivalent of five marathons; acknowledges that she hopes to complete the challenge in around 30 hours, and wishes Lorna all the best in raising awareness of and money for the charities.
