Lumo Train
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the inaugural Lumo train service on 25 October 2021, from Edinburgh to London King’s Cross, calling at Morpeth, Newcastle and Stevenage; notes that the new service delivers low-cost tickets, an end-to-end journey time of four and a half hours, and is 100% electric, offering a green, cost-effective alternative to flying; welcomes the special train service on 21 October, which included the Scottish singer songwriter, Tom Walker, and Lumo’s newly recruited Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador, Harvey Price; highlights that the AT300 intercity electric trains will be serviced and maintained by Hitachi at its train care depots, including in Craigentinny, Edinburgh; notes that the service offers a wide range of menus to cater for all tastes, and custom-made seats for a more comfortable journey, and wishes the new Lumo service a positive, inclusive and green future connecting Edinburgh and London.
