The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a display of more than 5,000 hand-made poppies, which was created by a member of a local Clackmannanshire church's Relief Society, as well as their friends and neighbours, has been officially unveiled in Alloa to pay tribute to those serving the country; understands that the poppies were unveiled during a lighting up ceremony on the grounds of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 22 October 2021; notes that dignitaries, representatives, civic leaders and the public turned out in numbers at the Grange Road church, along with service veterans, to mark the occasion; understands that dignitaries in attendance included Provost Tina Murphy and Clackmannanshire Lord Lieutenant Johnny Stewart, along with representatives from Poppy Scotland, which will be celebrating 100 years of the poppy on Armistice Day; considers that this initiative, which was fondly named The Poppy Project by the church's Relief Society, was started at the end of 2020 to recognise those who served and continue to serve in the Armed Forces; believes that the initial concept was for 1,500 hand-knitted, crocheted and sewn pieces just before the COVID-19 pandemic started, but that people kept working on poppies as the months drew on, with the final installation featuring some 5,600 pieces, along with the outline of a soldier, which was generously created at Forth Valley Men's Shed in Alloa, and commends everyone involved for their tireless endeavours to recognise the selfless service of all Armed Forces’ personnel, past and present.
