The motion

That the Parliament recognises Book Week Scotland, which takes place from 16 to 22 November 2021, with events across the country, and aims to bring together people who share and enjoy reading books; considers that Book Week Scotland engages a wide range of people, those who are bookworms and love to get lost in a good novel, those who pick up the odd book now and again, and those who enjoy family reading at bedtime; understands that events will take place at a variety of venues, including community centres, workplaces, libraries and pop-up venues, and that nurseries, primary and secondary schools are also organising events, aimed at children, to encourage them to read, learn and have fun throughout the week; notes that useful information will be available to parents at some events, to encourage reading at home with children, and understands that the aim of the week-long celebration is to encourage people to read not just during this one week, but all year long.
