Motion · S6M-02128 · 15 Nov 2021
In Memory of Bertie Auld
The motion
That the Parliament notes the sad passing of the Lisbon Lion, Bertie Auld, who, as well as playing for Celtic, played for Dumbarton, Birmingham City and Hibernian, and managed Dumbarton, Hibernian, Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle; recognises that Bertie was a popular and much loved figure in Scottish football and a renowned raconteur, known for his quick wit and love of a laugh; recognises that his natural generosity was shown through the work he did with the Celtic Foundation to help disadvantaged communities in Glasgow and beyond, and believes that the success of Bertie and his Celtic team mates in 1967 will live forever as an iconic achievement in club football.
