EGGER’s Barony Expansion to Create More Jobs in Auchinleck

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Auchinleck’s EGGER firm is expanding its site to include a new biomass and lamination plant; understands that these plans will create sixteen new full-time jobs at the chipboard production and wood-recycling plant; considers that these new additions will help the business to improve its eco-credentials, with plans for waste at the site to be used to power the biomass boiler; understands that EGGER already employs 148 people at the Barony site, and that the team is dedicated to achieving the ultimate goal of net zero production; believes that these plans will help the business grow in Ayrshire, while boosting the local economy through employment opportunities, and wishes the firm well as the extension commences.
