The Tall Ship Glenlee Celebrates 125th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates The Tall Ship Glenlee, which it considers to be one of finest examples of a three-masted barque in the world, on celebrating the 125th anniversary of being launched; understands that The Tall Ship Glenlee was launched at the Bay Shipyard in Port Glasgow by Anderson, Rodger and Company on 3 December 1896; commends the Clyde Maritime Trust on bringing the ship home to Glasgow in 1993, restoring the ship into a visitor attraction, event venue and a museum that hosts 4000 school children each year; notes that the Tall Ship is currently berthed at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow Kelvin; recognises the work being undertaken by trustees, staff and volunteers to keep this important historical ship alive for future generations to enjoy; understands that the organisation welcomes Hannah Cunliffe, Director of National Historic Ships, at its annual anniversary lecture on Monday 6 December 2021, and wishes all associated with The Tall Ship Glenlee every continued success.
