Scottish Autism Glam Up and Gift Festive Initiative

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a festive fundraising campaign has been launched at Alloa-based national charity, Scottish Autism, which is urging people to “Glam up and Gift” this festive season; understands that the group has launched the initiative amidst rising demand for its support services with reports of people with autism and their families continuing to be affected by the impacts of the pandemic; notes that members of the public are encouraged to share their photos on social media at #GlamUpAndGift to spread some festive cheer whilst making a donation; understands that, according to Scottish Autism’s Chief Executive, this initiative will be raising vital funds as the COVID-19 restrictions that remain in place continue to impact autistic people and their families, which has created a significant demand for key services, including the Autism Advice Line, which has reportedly seen calls treble since the onset of COVID-19, and commends all at Scottish Autism on their excellent services that support a great many autistic people and their families across Scotland.
