The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) service in Fife on its five-year anniversary; considers that a visual impairment diagnosis without support can be a devastating experience for the individual; commends the work of the service to help people who have been diagnosed with a visual impairment to come to terms with their condition and access the support they need to retain employment, autonomy and involvement in activities that they enjoy; believes that the work of the ECLO service is vital to people newly-diagnosed with a visual impairment, or at the point of need, in Fife; understands that the service is run as a partnership between RNIB Scotland and NHS Fife, with input from organisations across the health and social care sector, including see-scape, which is the operational name for Fife Society for the Blind, and looks forward to the continued work of these organisations to enable people diagnosed with a visual impairment to lead independent lives.
