Linlithgow Black Bitch
The motion
That the Parliament supports the traditions and heritage of Linlithgow, including the name of the Linlithgow pub, The BlackBitch Tavern; notes that, in Linlithgow, the local custom of describing localsas Black Bitches is based on the heroic greyhound who fed her master when hewas incarcerated on an island in the middle of a loch with no food and water;acknowledges that the Black Bitch has been depicted on Linlithgow’s ancientburgh seal as far back as 1296 and that Black Bitch imagery and artwork isfeatured throughout the town, and calls on Greene King to abandon plans tochange the name of the tavern.
