Professor Liz Bacon Appointed as Next Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Abertay University
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Professor Liz Bacon on her appointment as the next Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Abertay University; recognises that Professor Bacon will become the first female Principal of the University; understands that Professor Bacon has a wide portfolio of interests, including improving diversity and participation in STEM, particularly among women and people from disadvantaged backgrounds; further understands that the University has gone from strength to strength under the leadership of outgoing Principal, Professor Nigel Seaton; believes that Abertay is an outstanding institution rooted in the community that has offered ground-breaking courses over many years, including being the first to offer degrees in Computer Game Technology and Ethical Hacking; understands that Abertay scores among the best universities in the UK for student experience; thanks Professor Seaton for what it sees as his outstanding leadership, and hopes that the University will continue to reach ever greater heights under the guidance of Professor Bacon.
