Kilmarnock Choir to Perform for Football Fans at Halftime
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kilmarnock-based choir, the Unlikely Lads, on securing the chance to sing for Kilmarnock fans at halftime; understands that the group of men, with an average age of 83, became a choir 10 years ago at the CentreStage community arts centre, and has been singing together ever since; further understands that a video of the choir’s rendition of Marie Osmond’s song “Paper Roses” was spotted online by Kilmarnock FC, where the song is the club’s anthem, and led the club’s manager to invite the Unlikely Lads to sing at a future match; acknowledges what it sees as the valuable contribution that the choir makes to its members’ lives, offering a chance to socialise with friends and avoid loneliness and isolation; commends Centrestage in Kilmarnock for forming and developing the choir, and wishes the Unlikely Lads every success.
